This spring, Cincinnati will experience the Ohio premiere of HIGHER, an original rock musical developed by American Legacy Theatre, addressing the ongoing opioid crisis through a gripping, emotional love story.

Running from March 7 to March 22, 2025, on select dates, HIGHER will be staged in the gallery spaces of the Contemporary Arts Center, offering an immersive production unlike anything seen before. The musical follows Benjamin, a young man whose dreams are derailed by addiction, as he navigates love, loss, and his fight for redemption.

Through a powerful seven-person ensemble and a dynamic soundtrack, HIGHER brings to life a journey of struggle, transformation, and hope, challenging stigma surrounding addiction while creating a platform for open conversations. Written by playwright Mark Levine as well as arranged and orchestrated by Eric Knechtges, HIGHER is a new theatrical work that aims to reduce stigma around the opioid crisis and spark meaningful discussions in our community.
